Cloth of Silver and Cloth of Gold: History & Background
Cloth of Gold and Cloth of Silver have their roots dating back in ecclesiastical fabric history. This replica of Cloth of Silver is created in the style of the heavy French Cloths of Gold of the late nineteenth century. While difficult to capture in photography, Cloth of Silver shimmers and shines in dim lighting, but is radiant in bright sunshine. This liturgical fabric selection is best used when the occasion calls for a dramatic accent or when something special is required. Cloth of Silver is perfect for miters, as well as for orphrey trim, or bands for clergy stoles. Consider using Cloth of Silver for the hood of a cope or as the base for an embroidery design. The church & liturgical fabric can even be used for making an entire clergy vestment set.
