St. Hubert Liturgical Fabrics

Liturgical Brocatelle Fabrics for Making Church Vestments

There are so many Liturgical Fabrics that are a favorite, and St. Hubert’s ranks among the top of all fabrics as one of our favorites at the Ecclesiastical Sewing.com online store front. St. Hubert is a historic fabric that dates back to the 1800’s.  St. Hubert has undergone a few minor changes over the past century, such as reducing the size of the main motif so it is more “user-friendly” for making orphrey bands, apparels, and stoles.  The design is not an “even” pattern, and so takes a bit of getting used to when working with it for the first few times. Trying to see where to place cutting lines is a bit of a challenge. But in time the pattern sorts itself out, and it becomes easier to figure out how to work with a design that is not symmetrical.  I have written about St. Hubert’s in the past, and will continue to post about the fabric the next time it is used for a project. But for this evening, I hope you will enjoy some the beautiful colors used in the weaving of St. Hubert’s Liturgical fabric.

St. Hubert is a metallic fabric available in white/gold, red/gold, blue/gold, gold/gold and black/gold color combinations. It works up well as a trim or orphrey for stoles, altar frontals, copes, dalmatics, tunics, and chasubles.*

St. Hubert has been paired with the Ivory Lurex St. Margaret for a festive frontal used for both Easter and Christmas (and for a New Year’s Wedding). The orphrey bands and superfrontal feature the gold/gold St. Hubert Liturgical Brocatelle Fabric, edged with gold oak leaf galloon.

The St. Margaret Liturgical Brocade Fabric in ivory/lurex is a one of a kind fabric that features a very subtle touch of gold threads which are used to weave the main design elements of the Tudor Rose and Crown. This masterful weaving combination creates a unique fabric that is deceptive upon first appearances, but is sure to capture both ones attention and imagination with thought on how to incorporate this fabric into countless design possibilities.
