Red Pentecost Superfrontal – Descending Dove, Flame & Cross
Design Style 3502
A red Pentecost superfrontal featuring a centered descending dove with descending flame, flanked by gold crosses at either end and finished with a gold fringe hem. Designed to proclaim the unity of Spirit, sacrifice, and redemption during Pentecost and major festivals.
Created to visually anchor the altar during Pentecost and high festal seasons, this superfrontal brings together Spirit, fire, and the Cross in a single, unified proclamation.
At the center, the Holy Spirit descends as a dove, crowned with divine authority and accompanied by a descending flame, recalling the outpouring of fire at Pentecost. The downward movement of both forms emphasizes divine initiative: God coming to dwell with His people.
At each end, gold crosses frame the composition, confessing that the Spirit is given through the saving work of Christ. The Cross stands as the foundation of Pentecost itself, for the Spirit proceeds from the crucified and risen Lord and is poured out for the life of the Church.
A gold fringe hem completes the piece, drawing from longstanding altar textile tradition and marking the superfrontal as a festal garment set apart for sacred use.
Crafted in either Luther Rose Brocade or Red Lichfield Brocade, this superfrontal is made to order by Ecclesiastical Sewing, using historically grounded symbolism, balanced proportions, and materials selected for reverent, long-term liturgical use.
Part of The Spirit of Glory Collection, proclaiming the unity of Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the fire of Pentecost in the worship of the Church.
