As a designer, we all have our favored liturgical fabrics and patterns to use. Wakefield is always near the top of my list. The possibilities for use with this fabric are seemingly endless. When needed, it is a large, stand alone design. It can be used as a bold orphrey and can easily be cut into smaller orphrey bands. And if that were not enough, the fabric can also be used on the reverse side. With careful planning and cutting, there is minimal waste when using this design. Wakefield is a classical Gothic Design which incorporated the Pine Cone and Ogee figures woven with gold metallic yarn. This liturgical design was adapted from an old Franco-German design in the late 1960's. The design and color combinations are bold and striking. Wakefield is one of a few fabrics available in both a Light Blue as well as a Royal Blue color. It also comes in a Gold on Gold combination, as well as a Black with Gold combination that is stunning.
