Messianic Christmas Rose with Crown Liturgical Machine Embroidery Design

Roses are a special flower. They have a long history not only in the world of romance, but also in Heraldry and in the church. The book of Isaiah 35.1 tells the prophecy of the rose blossoming in the desert:

1The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. 2It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God. KJV

Go to a Gothic Cathedral, look around, and there you can see the rose. It is a symbol carved frequently in wood, stone, or colored in stained glass. The rose in fresh form might even appear in places least expected.

The red and white rose are steeped in history. They were the symbols used in the War of the Roses between the Houses of York and Lancaster. One house was depicted by the White Rose, the other  by a Red Rose.

Red is a color frequently associated with martyrdom. The red rose has become a symbol of martyrdom and Divine Love. The figures of Christ in the above photo all have a fresh red rose. A white rose (for purity) signifies the Hope of the coming Messiah. It may be referred to as a Messianic Rose or the Nativity Rose. The Christmas Rose is a delicate white flower with a yellow stamen and pistol center.

Another well loved symbol used within the church is the crown which denotes our Lord’s Kingly office. The crown is also a symbol that reminds us that we have eternal life through Christ where the scriptures refer to the crown of life in verses from the books of James, 1 Peter, and Revelation.

In honor of the historic and meaningful symbols that represent our Dear Lord and Saviour, Ecclesiastical Sewing is pleased to announce release of our newest Liturgical Machine embroidery design.
