Our church banners for the wall, the pillar and the procession, most of them embroidered, are made to order in our Baxter, Minnesota, studio in the same brocades as our paraments, so a banner can hang beside the frontal it matches.
The designs follow the liturgical year. For Advent, the seven Great O Antiphon banners in blue or violet, O Sapientia through O Emmanuel, with an Antiphons banner for the whole series, and the City of David and Star with Rays banners. For Lent, the Kyrie Eleison and Christe Eleison banners in violet brocade. For Christmas and Easter, the Word Became Flesh and And Dwelt Among Us banners with their herald angels, the Dayspring banners with the IHS or IHC and Alleluia, the ivory and gold St. Margaret banners, and two white processional banners. For the green season, the Apostle banner of the Tree of Life and the three Sanctified banners, among them the hand of God guiding the ship of the church. For Gaudete and Laetare, the rose King of Glory and The Lord is King banners. A heavyweight needle punch backing, 42 inches wide, is here for guilds making their own. Look for the matching paraments and vestments under the same collection names.
Questions about church banners
What size is a church banner?
Our standard banner is 36 inches wide and 54 inches long, not counting the fringe, a size that suits a pillar or a wall beside the chancel and can be carried in procession. Larger banners and other proportions are made to order; send us the measurements of the wall or the pole.
How is a banner hung?
A rod pocket is sewn across the top as standard and takes a dowel or a banner pole; tabs are an option on the Apostle banner and a custom upgrade on most of the Advent and Lent banners. A gold banner cord and tassel set, in the tassel collection, finishes a processional banner.
